Unfortunately, if you lack the skills to safely operate the boat, the consequences can be tragic.

American Boat Captains, LLC offers an exceptional onboard boater training program that teaches the ABC's of boating. Our one-on-one program is individually tailored to meet your needs. Our masters and captains are dedicated, skilled instructors who will train you in a relaxed but professional manner. The objective of the training program is to provide you with the skill sets and the knowledge to safely maneuver your vessel through the marina and along your favorite waterways.

The course is scheduled for four hours and covers a great deal of information. Your training captain will begin by doing a complete vessel safety check that includes an examination of all required USCG safety equipment. After the safety inspection, the instructor will review your vessel and her systems and teach you the proper method of securing dock lines and fenders. He will also instruct you on how to prepare for each boating experience by following a pre-departure check list.

After you are underway, your training captain will instruct you on proper boat handling within close quarters. Together, you will discuss general seamanship, aids to navigation, rules of the road, and how to handle emergencies at sea. When you return to port, you will review several methods of docking and you will have an opportunity to practice returning your vessel safely to her slip.
